Phyto-Active Focus

Phytosphingosine

How do we maintain optimal microbiome health?

Phytosphingosine a ceramide formulated into Phyto-Active Clearing Serum plays a crucial role in maintaining barrier function, which is essential for microbiome health.

Ceramides help to maintain the skin's barrier function by forming a protective layer that helps to prevent water loss and the penetration of harmful agents into the skin. They also play a role in cell signaling, helping to regulate the skin's immune response and inflammatory processes.

Ceramides help to maintain a healthy skin microbiome by providing a protective environment for these microorganisms to thrive. They also help to regulate the growth of harmful bacteria and promote the growth of beneficial bacteria which help mitigate acne causing bacteria.

Finally, ceramides are also important for healthy aging. As we age, the production of ceramides in the skin decreases, which can lead to a decline in the skin's barrier function and an increased risk of additional skin issues. Incorporating Phyto-Active Clearing Serum into a client’s routing supports healthy aging and maintains the skin's barrier function which supports clear, healthy skin.

Lactobacillus Ferment, also known as a probiotic, gained our attention due to its beneficial benefits for acne-prone (unbalanced) skin.

Microbiome Balance: The skin has a natural microbiome, a community of microorganisms that play a crucial role in maintaining overall skin health. Imbalances in the microbiome can contribute to skin conditions like acne. Lactobacillus ferment has been shown to have probiotic properties that help restore and maintain a healthy balance of skin microorganisms, reducing the proliferation of harmful bacteria associated with acne.

When should I add Phyto-Active Clearing Serum to my routine?

Phyto-Active was developed to help with a host of skin concerns from acne to hyperpigmentation including PIH. When the skin is heavily proliferated with active acne we recommend starting on Clarify 2.5% or 3%.

During a consult with Emily, she will note several skin concerns that may need to addressed in order of importance. If a client is concerned about hyperpigmentation but has several active acne lesions you will need to address the acne first. This will guide your cleanser choice in addition to treatment serums, moisturizer etc.

Treatment room feedback - We have received feedback that clients have responded ultra positive to the usage of Phyto-Active as a first line of defense with acne. We always say "one size fits one" when you approach acne.

No two skins are identical, similar yes, but the way we approach each client should be specific. Which is what we strive for at Rejuvenate.
